Advisory Service is for parents who
want a less extensive level of assistance. This service
consists of one visit that includes meeting first with the
student and immediately thereafter with parents. Younger
children may go home after their meeting and older students
remain and meet with us together. We review student records,
including academic history, background, talents, skills,
and interests. After this informal assessment and thoughtful
consideration, we discuss options, make specific recommendations,
provide information on the appropriate schools, and explain
the admission process. On occasion, we make referrals to
other professionals. Follow-up conversations are available
at an hourly rate.
Consultation is for parents who want to plan ahead
for their children, need general information about schools,
or want to discuss special circumstances before planning can
begin. In this single one- to two-hour session, we
discuss realistic expectations and provide objective information.
For very young children, we discuss ways to identify appropriate
programs and begin long-term educational plans. This service
does not include meeting the student, reviewing records, or
recommending specific schools or programs.
